Step-by-Step Guide to log in to

How to change password at

Step 1: To change the router’s default password, you need to have the IP address to access the admin panel. For this, you will have to connect your device to the Netgear router.

Step 2: Further, launch the web browser and type or the IP address printed at the bottom of the Netgear router. Follow the login steps as described above and later, open the Netgear router dashboard.

Step 3: On the Netgear Home page, you will see the ADVANCED option. Click on the ADVANCED option and then move forward with the Adminitration option.

Step 4: Click on the set password. Here you will be asked to enter your old password. After entering your old password, you can set a new password for your Netgear router login page.

Step 5: Re-enter the new password of your choice to confirm your selection and then click on the “Apply” button. Your new password will be set successfully.

Note: If you wish to, you may enable the Password Recovery Feature as well. This feature helps to reset a password without much hassle if you forgot the old one.

Update SSID name and WiFi Password with login

Let’s first understand what is SSID and WiFi Password. SSID (Service Set Identifier) is a name given to the network. All the names displayed on the screen when you search for available WiFi networks are SSIDs.

Speaking of WiFi password, it is different from what we discussed in the previous section. WiFi password secures the network while routerlogin password secures the admin page. Step 2: Now, click on the “Wireless” tab visible on your screen. Replace the existing SSID name and enter a new name of your choice. Further, enter a strong password in the password field or the Network Key field.

Step 3: Click on the Apply button and save your changes. This action will disconnect you from the network and the admin page. You have to log in again by entering the new set password and SSID name to access the admin page of your router.

Why login not working?

Sometimes, users may encounter trouble while logging into the router. You may face login issues like slow loading and the flashing of a blank screen on your device. This could happen for several reasons-

  • Entering the wrong Admin Username and Password.
  • When the Browser cache is full.
  • Interruption due to the security algorithm of your Network Firewall.
  • Malfunctioning of your router.
