Miami Metro train runs from the north to the south of Miami. It covers two lines of 40 km and 23 stations. This heavy rail rapid transit system of Miami-Dade and Miami is in the United States of Florida. It was opened in 1984 as the first rapid transit metro.

Miami Metro serves the urban core of Miami, connecting Miami International Airport, Downtown Miami, Brickell, and the Civic centre with the northern developed neighbourhood of Medley and Hialeah to the northwest and suburban roads Coral Gables, South Miami, ending at Dadeland. Additionally, the Miami train connects to South Florida’s commuter rail system at Tri-Rail station and Metro bus routes at all stations. It saw steady ridership growth per annum with an average of 1,05,500 daily passengers in 2013.

Miami Metro Rail opened its 23rd station at Miami International Airport, opening a newly created 16-station Orange line between the MIA and Dadeland south station. This new line is expected to increase ridership by adding millions of riders annually and allowing residents and visitors to go directly from the MIA to Downtown Miami. The MIA stations provide direct service to Greyhound Lines intercity bus, the Rental Car Center, and Tri-Rail commuter rail.

Now Metrorail operates 23 stations and combined with Metromover in Downtown Brickell and Miami, the system operates 43 stations. Metrorail stations are located about one kilometre apart along the line; you can see the Metromover stations approximately every two blocks in the greater Downtown area.

The Metro rail map shows several worthwhile stops for tourists, such as Brickell Avenue, Government Center, Coconut Grove, and Vizcaya Museum. Passengers can easily connect to the Metromover and roam around the city from Government Center Stations or Brickell Avenue.

Miami train Map also indicates the prices of the Miami train tickets. US$ 2.25 is the cost of a single journey, but it is impossible to buy only one ticket. Passengers can go for a US$ 5.65-day pass or a top-up Easy Card.

Passengers can pay directly for the ride at the fare gate or buy Easy tickets or a mobile pass on the GO Miami-Dade Transit app. Cash is never accepted at the fare gate. So, passengers should be careful on this point.

Miami Metrorail Hours and Schedule

Metrorail operates from 5 am to midnight, all seven days a week.

Weekday Service (Monday – Friday)

  1. Orange and Green Line trains run every 15 minutes every day until 8:00 pm.
  2. Orange and Green lines will combine to run every 7.5 minutes between Earlington Heights and Dadeland South Stations.
  3. After 8:00 pm, two Line trains will provide service every 30 minutes so one track can be closed for maintenance.

Weekend Service (Saturday & Sunday)

  1. The service between Earlington Heights and the Miami International Airport (MIA) Stations every 15 minutes on weekends will be provided by Orange line trains.
  2. Miami International Airport passengers travel must transfer between lines at Earlington Heights Station.
  3. Trains will run every 30 minutes on Green Line.

The best time to travel to Miami

November to the mid of May is the best time to go to Miami. During these months, the nights will be fresh and not humid also. If you are a beach lover, you better avoid visiting in December, January, and February.
